Empower your vision through education…Learn, teach, network.

The NBMBAA has a variety of educational paths that you can tap into…from high school students through the MBA degree and beyond.

Leaders of Tomorrow

In 1997, the Atlanta Chapter was the first to implement what would later be a national initiative termed Leaders of TomorrowSM (LOT).  LOT is a national mentoring program, formed of a network of high school students and MBA professionals who focus on student empowerment.  The program's goal is to assist the C-average, at risk, economically disadvantaged high school student with developing the life skills and career choices necessary to become productive citizens within the community.

The mission of LOT-Atlanta is to develop positive, socially aware, teenage professionals poised to emerge from high school with an internship related to their chosen course of study.  Leaders who volunteer their time to the program, participate in a variety of activities, workshops and events that emphasize growth in the following areas:

  • Leadership
  • Academics
  • Professional Development
  • Community Service
  • Securing Internships & Scholarships
  • Goal Setting & Attainment

The LOT Program operates year round and consists of five key components:

Saturday Leadership Training Sessions – LOT workshops are held monthly on Saturday mornings. Invited speakers present and conduct workshops on academic and career-related topics.

National Leadership Conference – Select Program Leaders from the program will receive subsidized expenses for a trip to the NBMBAA Annual Conference. These leaders will attend workshops and seminars, exposing them to careers in business and entrepreneurship.

The SAT Academy – The SAT Academy was developed to increase the Leaders' chances for college admissions and obtain assistance with strategies that improve their odds of scoring higher on college admissions exams.

Mentors – The backbone of the program, we rely on our extensive membership to volunteer their time and participate as mentors to the Program Leaders.

Community Impact Projects – The development of our program Leaders is not limited to the classroom, but extends to the communities in which our Leaders live and can make a positive impact.

Each aspect of the program is designed to augment the academic curriculum of the inner-city school while providing a quality after-school/extra-curricular activity for Metro Atlanta youth.  Currently, there are more than 100 9th - 12th grade students who participate in the LOT-Atlanta program annually.

Annual Scholarship Gala

For 24 years, the Chapter has held an annual Scholarship Gala that has served as the single largest scholarship event of the year. The Chapter solicits the support of corporations, small businesses, local civic leaders and its membership to ensure the event's success.  There are dynamic speakers, an awards ceremony, recognition of corporate sponsors, as well as an opportunity to network amongst attendees.  In recent years, the chapter added a "Silent Auction" component that not only provides additional contributions towards the scholarship fund, but also spotlights the talents of local artists/entrepreneurs, many of whom are members of the chapter.

Scholarship Opportunities

The NBMBAA's Scholarship Program has been in existence since 1982.  The NBMBAA, Atlanta Chapter believes an investment in the education of our youth, is an investment in our association. The Scholarship Program promotes the NBMBAA mission of increasing the number, as well as the diversity of successful African-Americans in the community by providing scholarships to outstanding deserving minority students at the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD level who exceed in academic achievement, leadership development, and service commitment.
